I am so thrilled to announce that my debut historical fiction novel, The Midwife of Saigon, is coming out next year, published by Cranthorpe Millner! Inspired by my grandmother’s life in Vietnam during the Indochina and Vietnam wars and my family’s persecution, it deals with themes of love and loss, courage and determination, resilience and hope and finding peace through adversity. It is dedicated to everyone who has been displaced or lost everything to senseless wars.
This book is for anyone who loves historical fiction, with a side of romance, or who wants to explore Vietnam through their imagination and learn about Vietnam’s culture and history.
It has taken me eight years to write on and off and has been a labour of love. I spent endless hours on historical research and have had so many creative blocks and obstacles along the way, and wanted to stop so many times. But it makes it even more special to have a finished book that I am finally happy with and can finally share it with the world.
I am so happy with the book cover my publisher designed for me: it’s powerful, beautiful and peaceful all at the same time, which I think reflects the book. And how cool is that photo in her dress? (FYI – I hated my first book’s cover so I really wanted this one to be perfect). I hope you love it too! But don’t tell me if you don’t, only positive vibes please!!!
I would love for you to support my project, which is very personal and close to my heart: BUY – READ – SHARE – REVIEW!
If you are part of a book club, this could be a great book to read and my author website has a Q&A pack for book clubs. We hope to share some of the proceeds with a microfinance initiative for women in Vietnam (another side project I am working on with my daughter!)
The book is already available to pre-order on Amazon. It will make a great and unique gift for a Christmas or birthday gift for a mother, daughter or friend.
I am also thrilled to share that, if all goes according to plan, I will be having a World Book Tour 2027!
SAVE THE DATES:
London: MARCH 30th, 2027
Paris: JUNE 2027
New York: OCTOBER 2027
Washington DC: OCTOBER 2027
If you are around for those dates, feel free to let me know if you want to join any of the events! And if you want to be involved in any way, or join my Street Team, let me know!
Unfortunately, this means I won’t have much time to dedicate to my travel website for the foreseeable future, but I will be keeping you updated all things book in the meantime.
Thank you so much for your support!
xx
